Water Storage Capacity Expansion Project

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

Painted Desert Demonstration Projects Water Storage Capacity Expansion Project, (PDDP-2026-01)

Painted Desert Demonstration Projects (PDDP), which manages the STAR School, an off-grid public charter school, and the PDDP food hub, is seeking qualified construction services for the installation of an elevated water storage tank and the repurposing of the existing water storage tanks for fire protection water storage. PDDP operates a bulk water loading station and recently installed a makerspace and farmers market building. They are currently upgrading their capacity to run the site on solar power. PDDP, through Apex Applied Technology (AATech, Manager), contracted Riley Engineering (Engineer) to design the elevated water storage tank and associated site improvements. Accordingly, the Owner/Manager is seeking bids from qualified tank and underground utility contractors (Bidders) to install and construct the new elevated water storage tank and associated piping and appurtenances and reconnect the existing water storage tanks for fire protection storage.

The Work consists of furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for installing a new elevated water storage tank; installing water pipe, valve vault, and associated appurtenances; connecting to existing piping; and reconfiguring the connections of the existing tanks to the water system such that they can be used for fire protection (service to fire hydrant on site). The Project will benefit the hundreds of families that rely on the bulk water loading station at PDDP to meet part or all of their household water hauling needs.
